AeHIN, with the help of the Thai Health Information Standards Development Center (THIS), conducted a three-day Knowledge Exchange Program for the staff of Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWRH) in Bangkok, Thailand last September 23-25, 2019.

JDWRH is having difficulties in managing increased patient visits in their Emergency Department and monitoring the availability of beds in real-time. To resolve this, they plan to establish a Central Admission Unit (CAU) in their Medical Record Office to manage registration, admission discharge and transfer (ADT) processes within and between hospitals.

AeHIN and THIS conducted the program to help JDWRH staff initiate the CAU. The program exhibited how hospitals in other countries organize patient registration, admission, discharge and transfer functions, as well as hospital medical record processes.

Topics covered in the program included Central Admission Unit Information Management, Bed Management System, Emergency Crowd & Information Management, and Digital Health Transformation Management.

Other academic exchanges with institutions such as the University of Colombo and the Health Informatics Society of Sri Lanka are also underway.
