The Asia eHealth Information Network (AeHIN), together with development partners and government ministries of Lao PDR, participated in the Lao Convergence Workshop on March 30-31 via online conference.
AeHIN presented the AeHIN Mind the GAPS Framework which served as part of the regional capacity-building on digital health.
Dr. Alvin Marcelo, Executive Director of AeHIN, facilitated the workshop on governance, and Dr. Russell Gann from ADB presented the importance and various types of enterprise architecture.
Dr. Veronica Lugah from the Ministry of Health-Malaysia talked about program management in the Malaysian perspective, and shared their experiences in using the Public Sector ICT Project Management (PPrISA) methodology.
Dr. Boonchai Kijsanayotin, Chair of AeHIN, discussed the HL7 FHIR framework and health information exchange, and how the standard is applied. Dr. Kijsanayotin also shared their country experiences on developing the digital health strategy of Thailand.
Mr. Jai Ganesh Udayasankaran from the Governing Committee of AeHIN, discussed the relevance and advantages of Electronic Health Records in health services delivery, quoting few real-life interoperability use-cases and their impact on the clinical workflow and productivity in hospitals. He also shared about the efforts from the Government of India in establishing a National Resource Center for EHR Standards (NRCeS) as well as providing standards-based Hospital Management Information System for Government hospitals in the country.
The participants were from multidisciplinary healthcare sectors of Laos PDR. The conference gave them an overview of the AeHIN Mind the GAPS framework and how it can be utilized in digital health projects.
