Sydney, Australia – Dr. Boonchai Kijsanayotin and Dr. Alvin Marcelo, chair and director of the Asia eHealth Information Network (AeHIN) respectively, presented the paper entitled “Community of Interoperability Labs: Pragmatic Approach to Achieving Interoperability” by the AeHIN Community of Interoperability Labs (COIL) in the Information and Knowledge Management Session at MEDINFO on July 11, 2023.
The paper discussed the networked learning approach taken by AeHIN that helped normalize interoperability knowledge and skills within and between countries in the Community. This joint learning is crucial in national and international understanding. The COIL adopted the AeHIN “Mind the GAPS, and Fill the GAPS” Framework, which promotes knowledge sharing on Governance, Architecture, Program Management, Standards and Interoperability.
The labs that contributed to the paper are the Aotearoa New Zealand Interoperability Lab (ANZIL), the University of the Philippines Standards and Interoperability Lab (SILab), the Health Data Interoperability & Incentivization Lab (HDIIL) in Hong Kong, and the Standards and Interoperability Labs in Taiwan (SIL-TW), Thailand (SIL-TH), Sri Lanka (SIL-SL), and the People’s Democratic Republic of Lao (SIL-Lao).
At MEDINFO 2023, the AeHIN COIL also had a side meeting to share updates from the respective labs and prepare for the AeHIN GM 2023 in Jakarta and MEDINFO 2025 in Taiwan.
