The UP Manila Standards and Interoperability Lab (UPM SILab) was invited by the Ministry of Health Nepal to give a presentation on how to set up their own lab.

Dr. Alvin Marcelo and Dr. Miguel Aljibe from UPM SILab shared the lab’s history and tips on selecting a governing board to serve as sponsors.

The UPM SILab, a Philippine-specific lab, is an offshoot of AeHIN’s Standards and Interoperability Lab Asia. In 2016, AeHIN proposed setting up an exemplar interoperability lab to help countries with their capacity-building. This lab (, whose scope was Asia, was initially established at the Philippine General Hospital and then transferred to the Asian Development Bank premises.

As of October 2022, the Standards and Interoperability Lab-Thailand (SIL-TH) stands as the AeHIN Standards and Interoperability Lab (AeHIN-SIL).
