On 24 June 2026, the DPI Day at the UN Open Source Week 2026, the Asia eHealth Information Network (AeHIN) participated in the panel, “DPI Sustainability for Health, Learning and Science,” co-organized by the United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the World Health Organization (WHO).
Jai Ganesh Udayasankaran, Executive Director of AeHIN, was among the speakers featured in the panel. In his recorded speech, he highlighted AeHIN’s work, particularly its global and regional engagements related to digital public infrastructure (DPI) for health.
He shared AeHIN’s participation in the February consultation at Wilton Park, contributing perspectives on how DPI can drive sustainable health system transformation and highlighting the challenges faced by smaller countries with limited capacities and resources that need to be addressed for meaningful adoption and implementation. Udayasankaran further shared that the recently concluded AeHIN General Meeting, themed “Investing in Digital Public Infrastructure and Responsible AI for People-centered Health,” co-hosted with the World Bank, the Ministry of Health, and BPJS Kesehatan, in Jakarta, Indonesia, convened 142 participants in person and 247 online. He noted the key takeaways from the conference: successful DPI for health demands strong governance, continuous workforce development, robust interoperability, sustainable financing, country leadership and ownership.
In closing, he expressed delight at seeing a multi-stakeholder, multisectoral community gather to help shape the path towards DPI Sustainability for Health, with AeHIN as part of the conversation.
