20 August 2026 – The Asia eHealth Information Network (AeHIN) and Health Level Seven International (HL7) officially began the second cohort of the HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) Fundamentals Course this year, bringing together 109 participants from 10 countries across Asia and the Pacific.

The course is organized by AeHIN in collaboration with HL7 International as part of the Regional Partner Agreement, continuing the effort to strengthen capacity on health information standards and interoperability in the region.

This cohort brings together participants from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Fiji, and Marshall Islands. Strong participation from the Philippines was also noted with 55 participants joining the course.

Participation of select organizations in this cohort was made possible through support from several partners in the region, including the World Health Organization (WHO) Bhutan for participants from the Ministry of Health of Bhutan, the National Telehealth Center, Department of Health (NTHC-DOH) and Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) for participants from organizations in the Philippines, and the Ministry of Health and Human Services/Pacific Island Health Officers Association (MOHHS/PIHOA) for participants from Fiji and the Marshall Islands.

Diego Kaminker from HL7 International led the first live introductory session of the course on 27 August 2026, where 56 participants learned about the overview of the course and the learning activities until September 2026.

Participants are now continuing with the self-paced course and will join the upcoming live sessions with HL7 International.

AeHIN would like to thank HL7 International and all supporting partners for making this course and cohort possible. We look forward to continuing the course with our August 2026 cohort and seeing everyone in the upcoming sessions.
