What is the Community of Interoperability Labs (COIL)?

The Community of Interoperability Labs (COIL) is a group of AeHIN members committed to building capacity on standards and interoperability knowledge and research within their own countries and across borders.

Membership in the COIL is via in-country standards and interoperability labs. SILs are established to develop local capacity to build, acquire, and implement interoperable systems within their countries.

These labs will serve as resources for local stakeholders, public and private. The labs offer teaming, tooling, training, and testing interoperability of electronic information systems.

Characteristics of a standards and interoperability lab

  1. With a designated full name point of contact and email address with consent to share in the AeHIN and/or AeHIN COIL website
  2. Staffed with people dedicated to the promotion and adoption of standards and interoperability within their country and across the region
  3. Nurtures and facilitates a community of practice within their country, and
  4. Offers a shared interoperability infrastructure to their community of practice.

Objectives

  • Promote standards and interoperability within countries and across regions.
  • Facilitate collaboration through the sharing of knowledge, practices, and tools.
  • Provide teaming, tooling, training, and testing infrastructure for interoperability.
