Mr. Jai Ganesh Udayasankaran, Executive Director of the Asia eHealth Information Network (AeHIN), participated in the digital health side event on the theme “Citizen Centric Health Delivery Ecosystems for Universal Health Coverage leveraging Digital Health and Innovations” as part of the 2nd Health Working Group Meeting and G20 Health Week from April 18 -19, 2023, at Goa, India. This event brought together global leaders and health development partners, health policy makers, digital health innovators and influencers, academia, philanthropies and other stakeholders at a common platform to address the following objectives:
- Sharing best practices and innovations
- Strengthening health systems using digital technologies
- Identifying challenges and barriers for the implementation of digital health strategies and initiatives across countries;
- Democratization of cutting edge technologies in Digital Health;
- Promoting innovation, and scale up digital health innovations as Global Digital Public Goods,
- Accessing cost-effective digital health solutions
- Exploring governance framework, standards and interoperability issues regarding national health platforms
- Navigating data and security issues in national implementation
- Research and development to use cutting edge technologies for improved health outcomes
- Capacity building in digital health among healthcare workers
He also attended the invite-only special event “Prioritizing digital health: Reinforcing the enabling environment and facilitating standards-based guidelines” hosted by Digital Square at PATH, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India on 20 April 2023 at Goa, India. This special event was meant to be an opportunity for donors and digital health advocates to come together to align around a shared vision for digital health transformation, reaffirm a commitment to the Digital Investment Principles, and explore avenues to ensure country-driven investments in digital health.
