The Asia eHealth Information Network (AeHIN) showcased its work in promoting digital health interoperability across the Asia region at the SNOMED CT Expo 2024, which took place from October 24 to 25 in Seoul, South Korea. Dr. Boonchai Kijsanayotin, Chair of AeHIN, and Dr. Rath Panyowat, a member of the AeHIN Working Council, represented the AeHIN at the event.

AeHIN was among the exhibitors at the Expo. At the AeHIN booth, the team shared insights on the Network’s advocacy for global standards like SNOMED CT and engaged with representatives from various countries, such as Malaysia and Indonesia, as well as stakeholders interested in promoting interoperable health information systems.

The AeHIN booth showcased regional projects, emphasizing the role of interoperability in improving healthcare systems and patient outcomes. Visitors learned about AeHIN’s efforts to foster collaboration among countries and support the adoption of interoperable health information systems.

The SNOMED CT Expo offered a platform for global experts, implementers, and researchers to exchange knowledge on the transformative applications of SNOMED CT. Program streams such as Advances in Research and Innovation, Implementation Excellence, Enhancing Clinical Practice, and Terminology Leading Practices provided valuable insights into leveraging health terminologies to address real-world challenges. Dr. Kijsanayotin and Dr. Panyowat participated in these sessions, gathering insights to integrate into AeHIN’s regional efforts to advance digital health.

AeHIN’s participation at the SNOMED CT Expo demonstrates its commitment to empowering countries in the region with the tools and expertise necessary to build interoperable health systems.
