AeHIN’s Jai Ganesh Udayasankaran participates in the WSIS eHealth Action Line session virtually.
The World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) co-chaired the session ‘E-health – Fostering foundations for digital health transformation in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI)’ at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)+20 High Level Event in Geneva, Switzerland, on July 7, 2025.
The session continued the discussions from the 78th World Health Assembly in May 2025 about leveraging Digital Public Infrastructures (DPIs) for digital health transformation. It brought together speakers from development agencies, government, and civil society to explore future-proofing digital health systems for a DPI-based transformation that will ensure seamless data exchange.
Among the things discussed were updates on the shifting perceptions and priorities of digital transformation in the health sector, the renewal and extension of the Global Strategy on Digital Health (GSDH), global digital health information priorities and the reference architecture for Digital Public Infrastructure for Health (DPI-H), and operationalization of the Global Initiatitve on Digital Health (GIDH).
AeHIN Executive Director Jai Ganesh Udayasankaran participated in the event virtually to discuss the importance of DPI in enabling an efficient and interoperable digital health system, as well as the relevance of AeHIN’s work in promoting a DPI-based digital health transformation.
He shared perspectives from AeHIN focused on supporting national digital health programs through Convergence Workshops. Highlighting the relevance of Convergence Workshops for DPI-H, he recalled AeHIN’s Regional Call to Action on GAPS while referring to the DPI Reference Architecture for National Digital Health Transformation.
