Transform Health launched the Roadmap to 2030: Health For All in the Digital Age in a virtual meeting held on December 12, 2025. The roadmap outlines a five-year action agenda to strengthen the enabling environment for digital health and achieve health for all in the digital age.
The Asia eHealth Information Network (AeHIN), among the organizations that contributed to the development of the Roadmap, also participated in the launch. AeHIN Executive Director Jai Ganesh Udayasankaran was among the panelists of the session “Creating the Enabling Environment for Digital Health to Accelerate Universal Health Coverage (UHC),” which was part of the launch. Udayasankaran shared how AeHIN’s work aligns with the roadmap and discussed how the Roadmap can support national digital health programs in Asia.

Responding to the moderator’s question, Udayasankaran concurred that AeHIN’s mission and the Roadmap are well aligned. UHC has been a key focus area for AeHIN. Since its inception, AeHIN has organized several conferences focused on the UHC theme to share experiences and discuss the impact of deploying digital health to enhance, expedite, and expand UHC in countries.
The network supports digital health programs in countries, particularly through the Mind the GAPS Framework and regional capacity-building activities, which are integral parts of Convergence Workshops. These bring political will, country leadership, and multistakeholder participation and coordination, enabling stakeholders to see the national big picture needed to support the national digital health strategies, blueprints, and costed roadmap.
AeHIN is advancing equitable digital health ecosystems and has been a partner for Transform Health in the region to promote and strengthen health data governance (HDG) in countries. Udayasankaran shared that on the same day, there had been a national consultation workshop on HDGs in Mongolia, which AeHIN co-organized with the UNICEF country office, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Communications, demonstrating AeHIN’s shared commitment with Transform Health and partners to promoting HDGs and the Roadmap to 2030.
Udayasankaran also underscored AeHIN’s work in fostering peer learning and support in the Asian region through its Communities of Practice (CoP), ensuring country ownership, leadership and accountability for national digital health programs, and encouraging setting up Standards and Interoperability Labs (SILs) in countries and connecting them in the Community of Interoperability Labs (COIL) to support interoperable health systems in the region, which is foundational towards achieving UHC. He drew parallels between the vision statement of AeHIN “Interoperable digital health systems for universal health coverage and health systems in Asia” and Goal 5 of the Roadmap to 2030.
“AeHIN can package the Roadmap and global milestones into pragmatic context-sensitive actions towards achieving health for all in the region,” Udayasankaran added.
During the open forum, Udayasankaran shared his thoughts on how stakeholders can demand accountability to build resilient healthcare systems to address the needs of the vulnerable communities. Regarding inclusiveness, he opined that one way to address it is through public consultation: involving various categories of stakeholders in a structured way to seek feedback and to take them into consideration while shaping policies. Given the varying needs and priorities in countries, Udayasankaran reiterated the importance of the country context. Consistent efforts towards these “bring about synergy and help ensure those vulnerable get to experience the benefits of digital health transformation,” Udayasankaran concluded.
